If trained to do so
Chris Bertolo

Have you ever used the phrase ‘if trained to do so’? Often, ANZCOR guidelines will include treatment recommendations with this caveat.
In this hands-on workshop, Nurse Educator Chris Betolo will cover the skills required to deliver treatments not commonly taught in first aid courses.
You will learn…
- How to give a Glucagon IM injection.
- How to take, record and interpret blood sugar levels.
- How and when to give intranasal naloxone.

Teaching first aid
Prof Hugh Grantham
How you teach is just as important as what you teach. Getting the ‘important stuff to stick’ is vital if we want learners to recall information in an emergency.
In this engaging workshop, Prof Hugh Grantham (tbc) will examine what the current evidence tells us about first aid and BLS education.
You will learn…
- The best evidence-based practice for BLS education.
- The importance of identifying cognitive overload and ways to reduce it.
- Methods to deliver information in a relatable and simplified way.
- How we learn, and tips on ensuring the important stuff sticks.
Session 1: 1pm – 4pm
Session 2: 5pm – 8pm
